The ski jumping or flying hill in Planica is called Letalnica bratov Gorišek, in English: Flying hill of Gorišek brothers. The hill size of the great hill of Planica is 240 metres. The hill was built in 1967-1968 and the first competition in the hill was competed in 1969. The Japanese jumper Ryoyu Kobayashi has the hill record with 252 metres which he jumped in 2019. In the season 2022-2023 Planica will host the men's final world cup competition weekend of the season with four days of action between 30th of March and 2nd of April 2023. Planica will be the traditional venue for the FIS Ski Jumping World Cup Finals, this time between March 30 and April 2, 2023. The forty-fourth season of the Ski Jumping World Cup will be of record length and will not end until the first weekend of April. At the biggest sports holiday in Slovenia, we are once again expecting long flights by the best ski jumpers in the world, while the Brothers’ Gorišek flying hill will be ready again for record lengths. On Thursday, in the company of many children, we will follow the official training and qualifications, on Friday the individual competition will take place, while the highlight is always the team competition on Saturday. The season will traditionally end with the Sunday’s individual competition with the best athletes of the 2022/23 winter season, of which the first highlight will be the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships between February 21 and March 5, 2023. This year you can witness live the Ski Jumping World Cup finals that will take place in Planica. The world's best ski jumpers will compete on the Flying hill ‘Letalnica’ of Gorišek brothers between March 30 and April 2.
